Benefits of Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy has been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine systems such as Chinese medicine and Ayurveda. In these traditions, cupping therapy is believed to promote the flow of “qi” or “prana” (life force energy) through the body and to help remove blockages that can cause pain, illness, or other health problems.
Cupping is a form of alternative therapy that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The cups can be made from various materials, including glass, bamboo or silicone.
During the cupping session, I will place the cups on the skin to create suction by either heating the air inside the cup or using a vacuum pump. The cups are left on the skin for several minutes, creating a vacuum effect that pulls the skin and underlying tissue up into the cup. This can cause temporary skin discoloration, often described as a “cupping mark” or “cupping bruise.”
Cupping is often used for pain relief, inflammation, and relaxation. The suction created by the cups can help improve blood flow, stimulate the immune system, and aid in the release of muscle tension.
Cupping is sometimes used as a cellulite treatment, where massage oil is used and the cup is glided over the affected areas; excellent method to reactivate the lymphatic system, to improve blood flow to the affected areas, reduce inflammation and break down the fatty deposits that cause cellulite.
Cupping is also used into athletes and sports professionals to help pain relief, muscle recovery, and increased range of motion. The suction created by the cups is believed to increase blood flow to the affected area, promote the removal of toxins and waste products, and release muscle tension.
